Additional Hidden Gems in Scotland
The courses listed here in some people's minds would probably not be classified as "Hidden Gems", but since most of them are not the reason that you are planning your Scotland trip; they could, however, be hidden gems to you. Most people knowledgeable with golf in Scotland would agree that on a shorter trip (7 to 10 days) it is probably better to stay in no more than 3 locations. With that in mind, we have listed some of these courses by geographical area. Several of these areas are in close proximity to some of the more famous courses, some are not. Ideally, this won't be your one Scotland trip of a lifetime and you will be returning to visit some of the other areas. Most of these courses have websites so it only takes a moment to take a look at their history, etc.

ARRAN/KINTYRE/ISLAY
- Macrihanish Golf Club - Tom Morris (1879) - This course is far from a hidden gem and is one of the top 50 courses outside of the US. I include it because of it's remoteness and location in comparison with the other 2 courses mentioned in the region, Campbeltown, Argyll.
- Shiskine Golf and Tennis Club - Willie Fernie (1896), Willie Park (1910) - While only 12 holes, this truly is one of the hidden gems of the world and for the last couple of years has been ranked in the top 100 courses in Britain, well worth the ferry ride, Blackwaterfoot, Isle of Arran.
